by Sean J. Vanslyke - sean@gosemo.com

COVID-19 continues to linger and change the way we live, work, learn and play. My wife Debbie and I miss seeing our daughter and her family in Seattle, Washington. We miss hugging our grandchildren. For the first time in SEMO Electric Cooperative's 82-year-old history, the Governor of Missouri and the First Lady visited the cooperative's office in Sikeston. The purpose of Governor Mike Parson's and First Lady Teresa Parson's stop was to announce a $142,000 matching grant for SEMO Electric's fiber project. The funding will help provide service to 60 underserved homes. The state is using federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act money to pay for the broadband funding.

MOAG

It has been an incredible month at SEMO Electric Cooperative and GoSEMO Fiber. We delivered 720 summer meals for children, we surpassed 4,300 high-speed fiber Internet installations, we mailed checks totaling $73,000 to help 105 students attend trade school or college, we hosted our first drive-thru annual meeting and we had Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt visit our office. All of these things despite COVID-19. Team SEMO keeps pushing forward.
