Welcome to 2020

As we enter a new year, I simply want to say thank you for being an engaged member-consumer of SEMO Electric Cooperative. If you are taking time to read, you are at least staying abreast of the cooperative’s activities. I want to say thank you to Team SEMO and SEMO Electric’s Board of Directors for a shared sense of purpose and commitment to make people’s lives better with safe, reliable and low-cost electricity and fiber-fast Internet. We aren’t perfect, but we try to work safe, keep things tidy, act prudent and take care of our member-consumers.

Winter Energy Bills

The 2020 edition of the Farmers' Almanac suggests a suspenseful start to January over the eastern half of the country. This may mean frequent freefalling precipitation as well as strong and gusty winds. And a cold winter can bring an equally cold reality: higher heat bills.  Keep your costs and energy use as low as possible by acting now to avoid energy bill shock.Two big ideas: 1) Start with a heating system checkup. Keep your heating system clean and in tip-top working order.

When you think about SEMO Electric Cooperative, you probably associate us with the local community. And you would be right. Our leadership team, board of directors and employees live and work right here in the community we serve. But you may not realize that SEMO Electric is actually part of a much larger cooperative network that brings additional value, tools and knowledge that benefit you, the members of the co-op.

When you think of October, pumpkins, Halloween and beautiful fall foliage naturally come to mind. But October is notable for another reason – it’s National Co-op Month! This is the time of year when cooperatives across the country, including SEMO Electric Cooperative, celebrate who we are and more importantly, the members we serve.

Annual Meeting

As reported at the annual meeting, we are proud to provide safe, reliable and low-cost electricity to thousands of homes, farms and businesses. And, now, we are providing world-class broadband services to more than 1,800 homes, farms and businesses in southeast Missouri. Last year at this time, we had just 200 fiber installations. GoSEMO Fiber is growing quickly.
