Don’t blink! Don’t do it. Welcome to Week #301 of The Friday Feature. Our granddaughter turns 11 today. She’s still asleep after a big Christmas Day.

We say it all the time: time flies. This one made me stop. The next time her birthday falls on a Friday is 2031. She’ll be 17.

In what feels like a blink, she’ll be driving, making big decisions, chasing dreams, and stepping into adulthood.

She also lives with Kabuki syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects multiple systems of the body. It appears equally across genders, ethnicities, and geographies. The gene mutations have been identified, creating hope for future treatment pathways. Today, there are no treatments that address the root cause; care focuses on managing symptoms.
