The Friday Feature w/Sean: Grandpa’s Three Lessons
I would give almost anything for one more day. Welcome to Week 305 of The Friday Feature. As I sat in a parking lot before sunrise on Wednesday, I had an odd feeling I couldn’t shake.
So, I did something I couldn’t have done 20 years ago because I didn’t have an iPhone in my hand. I Googled my grandfather’s obituary. That morning marked 20 years since this WWII veteran passed away.
A lot has changed in my world and in the world around me since then. With a single mom for several years, I spent a lot of time with Grandpa and Grandma on the dairy farm. Looking back now, I see three things he taught me without ever writing them down:
1️⃣ First, I don’t recall him ever saying a bad word about anyone.
2️⃣ Second, I don’t recall him ever raising his voice at my grandmother.
3️⃣ Third, he simply wanted peace.
He was born in mid-November 1918, just as the guns fell silent after World War I. His middle name was Peace.
I would give just about anything for one more day with him. That’s why I encourage you to take action. Reach out to the people who matter to you. Tell them thank you. Tell them what they mean to you. Now. Keep Pushing Forward.
