Building a Stronger Cooperative Network

SEMO Electric had the opportunity to host directors and leaders from six cooperatives today as part of District VI (one of six districts as part of Missouri Electric Cooperatives) and honoring the cooperative principle of cooperation among cooperatives.
Representatives from Black River Electric Cooperative – Missouri, Citizens Electric Corporation, M&A Electric Power Cooperative, Ozark Electric Cooperative, Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative, and SEMO Electric Cooperative gathered to discuss issues impacting our industry, share ideas, and learn from one another.
The group also heard a presentation from Jared, Colton, and Chris about their work helping restore power in Jamaica (Missouri on a Mission) this January following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in October 2025. It was a powerful reminder for our directors to see firsthand the value of sending skilled people to help others restore power and improve lives after disaster strikes.
While our daily focus remains on serving the members of southeast Missouri and the surrounding region, partnerships like these strengthen all of us. By sharing experiences, best practices, and ideas, we continue building a stronger cooperative network for the communities we serve.
