Summer Fire Pit Safety

Warm summer nights are perfect for roasting marshmallows, sharing spooky ghost stories and reminiscing with loved ones—but a fun night around the fire can quickly become dangerous without proper safety protocols.

Make sure your fire pit is in an open area away from trees, buildings and power lines.

Keep a shovel and water close. In an emergency, use the water to quench the fire and the shovel to smother the flames with dirt.

Never leave a fire unattended. Pour water over live embers and turn the logs to make sure all sides of the wood have stopped burning.
