Costumes. Masks. Monsters. It’s the one day a year we laugh at what usually scares us.

But most masks don’t come with strings. They’re the quiet kind— A smile to cover fatigue. Confidence to hide uncertainty. Calm to protect frustration.

Sometimes we wear them just to get through the day. And that’s okay. But every now and then, it helps to pause and remember who we really are beneath it all.

So today, as kids put on costumes and head out for candy, remember—some folks are wearing masks for different reasons. A kind word or gentle smile might be exactly what helps them breathe again.
