The Friday Feature w/Sean: 820 Mile Drive with Hope
Where were you? Most of us remember exactly where we were on September 11, 2001. Welcome to week 338 of The Friday Feature.
At 34 years old, I found myself in a position I never expected. The day before, I had flown to Philadelphia with two vice presidents (Ellen Krohne and Greg Mason). That morning, we were in Philadelphia for a meeting when someone opened the door and told us a tragedy was unfolding in New York City.
Soon, we learned what had happened in Pennsylvania. Airspace was closed. Flights were grounded. We were 820 miles from home.
I had a wife and a 12 year old waiting for me, with another baby due in three months. We said a prayer, took a deep breath, called our families, and started driving.
We did not call Avis. We simply got into our rental car and headed west.
Eight hundred and twenty miles is a long drive when your mind is racing. We listened to the news and tried to understand a world that had changed overnight.
But we were not just driving home. We were driving home with hope.
Hope for the United States.
Hope for the world.
Hope for a better tomorrow.
Hope for our first responders.
Hope for our families.
Twenty five years later, we still need that hope.
Don’t lose the opportunity to tell somebody you love them today. And no matter how dark the road may seem, keep driving forward with hope.
Thanks for watching and sharing Week 338 of The Friday Feature.
Keep Pushing Forward, and I will see you next Friday.
